Health Safety
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration
(OSHA) requires that all medical students undergo
training. All medical students receive the Bloodborne
Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.

HIPAA
Federal regulations under the Health Insurance
Portability and Accountability Act require that all persons who
may have access to patient records undergo training. The
training is conducted in the first year of medical
school. Medical students are subject to the HIPAA
training requirements of clinical facilities outside of the
College of Medicine, as training may not be
transferable.
