Location
East Tennessee State University is located in Johnson City, in Northeast Tennessee. Johnson City is surrounded by the Great Smoky Mountains. There are several recreational TVA lakes located in the area. The Appalachian Trail is only 20 miles away.
The Tri-Cities Area (Johnson City/Kingsport/Bristol) is easily reached by automobile, by busline, or by air travel. We are located within easy driving distance of Knoxville, TN, Roanoke, VA, Asheville, NC, and Atlanta, GA. The Tri-Cities Airport is served by USAir and Atlantic Southeast Airlines, a Delta Connection Carrier and can be reached through connections in Charlotte, Atlanta, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh.
