Valerie Boger COORDINATOR-SECRETARY TO SURGERY CHAIRMAN A native of California, Valerie and her husband, Neal, moved to Jonesborough in 2006. They have lived in various places including France, Africa, and Hawaii. She enjoys gardening, art, volleyball, reading and spending time with her granddaughter, Lily. In addition to her coordinator responsibilities Valerie serves as administrative assistant to the department chair. Her duties include planning and coordinating Grand Rounds and lectureships and facilitating surgery call schedules and department pagers. Valerie feels blessed to be a part of the surgery team. |

Carolyn Hopson, MA BUSINESS MANAGER-ADMINISTRATOR Carolyn has been with the department of surgery since 1995. She has been excited to share in the department's growth in teaching, research and funding opportunities. She is responsible for the academic and clinical administration functions of the department. She received her masters degree from Tusculum College and undergraduate degree from ETSU. She enjoys family time and friends, boating, swimming and reading. |

Sheila Lyons TECHNICAL CLERK-MEDIA SPECIALIST Sheila has been with the department since 2005. Her responsibilities include production of the department newsletter, maintaining the department web sites, handbooks, and supporting ten of the department faculty. She loves motorcycle riding with her husband, bicycling, spending time with her friends and family, and playing with her granddaughter, Emma, and her new grandson, Judah. |

Lorena Burton INFORMATION RESEARCH TECH - CLERKSHIP COORDINATOR Lorena Burton, a native of the Mojave desert area in California, is the clerkship coordinator for surgery. Lorena enjoys the outdoors, hiking, water-related activities, gardening and most of all her 3 grandsons. |

Alice Terrell INFORMATION RESEARCH TECH-RESEARCH ASSISTANT Alice has Worked in the Department of Surgery for 16 years and in higher education for 35. She provides support to the Research Faculty and Staff of the Department of Surgery. When not working she enjoys reading, music and gardening. |

Penny Wright INFORMATION RESEARCH TECH Penny is a native of Bristol and a graduate of ETSU. She is responsible for purchasing and reimbursements for the department. Penny budgets accounts and is the assistant to the Office Manager. She enjoys spending time with her family, wakeboarding, jet skiing, and traveling. |
