Community Health Education is one of the fastest growing public health professions. Community Health Educators are instrumental in a variety of public health programs and community relations. These programs include chronic disease prevention programs, injury prevention and control activities, community health planning and community health improvement initiatives. Community health educators assist individuals and communities to adopt healthy behaviors. Task include collecting and analyzing data to identify community needs prior to planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating programs designed to encourage healthy lifestyles, policies, and environments. Community Health educators serve as resources to individuals, other professionals, and the community, and may administer fiscal resources for health education programs. Bureau of Labor Statistics indicate that there are 47,000 health educators working in the United States. Federal, state, and local governmental agencies are among the top employers.
