The degree has recently been
designated as the entry-level degree for the profession of Audiology.
The demands for the Au.D. have mirrored the growth of the
profession of Audiology. By 2012, the Doctor of Audiology
degree will be the entry-level degree for the profession.

The Au.D. is a four-year, post-baccalaureate clinical degree that includes an in-depth, broad-scope educational element. The clinical training is patient-based and includes audiometric evaluations, electrophysiologic testing, pediatrics, geriatrics, special needs audiology, advanced hearing amplification, aural habilitation and rehabilitation, intra-operative monitoring, cerumen management, tinnitus training, vestibular/balance diagnostic and rehabilitative services, as well as other scopes of practice.
