Various Audiology clinics are conducted daily. Each morning starts with a 7:45 a.m. clinic meeting regarding the patients scheduled that day.
The morning clinics are devoted to hearing evaluations and compensation and pension examinations, both of which focus on diagnostic audiology.
The afternoons are devoted to specialty clinics such as hearing aid evaluation
and fitting, auditory evoked potentials, group audiologic rehabilitation, and vestibular evaluations.
Patients with hearing aid problems are scheduled throughout the day or are seen on a walk-in basis.
The Main Audiology Clinic (Building #204,The James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Mountain Home ) consists of five double-walled sound booths, a hearing aid laboratory, a patient education room, a conference room, and offices for staff and students.
The case mix in Audiology is about 90% outpatient and 10% inpatient, which includes patients from the Nursing Home and Domiciliary.
Yearly, 11,000 patient visits are recorded in Audiology with 3500-4000 hearing aids issued.
