The CDIS Department offers the Master of Science degree with a concentration in speech-language pathology. The course work and clinical clock hour requirements are designed for the student to obtain the ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence and licensure. In addition to building a strong academic foundation, students also gain a diversity of clinical experiences in medical and educational settings for both adult and pediatric populations. Clinical practicum and research experience is available in the Speech Pathology Service of the Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Quillen College of Medicine, Crumley House Head Injury Rehabilitation Center, the Aphasia Research clinic at the ETSU Nave center, early intervention programs, rehabilitation hospitals, nursing homes, speech and hearing centers, and schools. ETSU has an enrollment of approximately 12,000 students and is located in Johnson City, TN. Johnson City is located in the mountain and lake country of Southern Appalachia close to the state lines of North Carolina and Virginia. Area recreational activities include boating, snow-skiing, white water rafting, fishing, and hiking.
