Where we are
East Tennessee State
University is located in Johnson
City, TN in the northeast corner of the state.
The ETSU Physical Therapy department is located in Building 2, 2nd floor
on the grounds of the James H. Quillen College of Medicine/Veterans
Affairs campus (right across the street from the main ETSU campus). From
our building we have a wonderful view of the beautiful VA grounds and
the mountains to the south. |

A Little History
The Department accepted the first class of PT (BSPT)
students in the spring of 1996. Two additional BSPT classes followed
before the program converted to an MPT program in spring of 1999. The
department is making the change to the DPT program beginning with the
class entering in the spring of 2004.
The PT program at ETSU is fully accredited through 2013 with the
Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). |

Faculty
The department faculty
have over 90 years of combined experience in physical therapy practice.
Two are board certified specialists, one in orthopaedics, one in
pediatrics. One faculty member is a Ph.D./PT with the doctorate in
pharmacology. The other faculty are completing doctoral programs in
areas related to their teaching specialties. |
| Students
Our students come from diverse academic and geographic
backgrounds. They are well-rounded, studious, and, as you can see from
the picture to the right, a lot of fun to be around (well, except maybe
for exam time!)
Check out the following for information on the students:

These pictures, taken on an
average day here on the VA grounds right outside our building, have hopefully
piqued your interest about where we are. Still you may be asking yourself,
Why choose ETSU?
You may also have questions (Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ))
that students in the past have asked. Well, we have answers!
Although they are limited in number, we do have Scholarships
and Assistantships in the department that are offered to students in each
entering class. (These are only offered to PT students; students accepted into
other graduate programs are not eligible for the Physical Therapy Department
Tuition Scholarships or Graduate Assistantships.)
