I want to extend a warm welcome as you explore the College of Public and Allied Health here at East Tennessee State University.
When transferring to ETSU I had no idea which direction my studies would take. Curious to see what it was about, I soon found myself taking a course in Public Health. Little did I know that a Community Health course would be my gateway into an exciting and opportunistic major.
The more classes I complete in this field, the more at home I feel. New possibilities are springing up all around me. I am currently involved with service projects and the honor society (Eta Sigma Gamma), while still having time for the other activities that college students enjoy. The faculty and staff are knowledgeable and competent with friendly and helpful attitudes. In this environment it is easy to learn (even to study), make new friends, and get to know the professors outside of class.
As I continue in my studies and think about what I am being prepared to accomplish, I am excited with the possibilities. I feel that ETSU is doing an outstanding job of preparing me for the future of Public Health and to make a difference in the lives of both individuals and communities. If this is your desire, consider ETSU and the College of Public and Allied Health as a wonderful opportunity to prepare yourself to make a difference.
Thank you, Silas Tolan
