East Tennessee State University College of Public Health is committed to providing the highest quality of education to each of its students in each of its programs. In accordance with this, The ETSU College of Public Health became the first accredited College of Public Health in the state of Tennessee, In October 2009. This process began in October 2007, when ETSU created the College of Public Health. In November 2007, ETSU joined the Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPH) as an associate member. In November 2009 the College was awarded full, ASPH-member status. As the accreditation body for academic programs in public health, The Council on Education for Public Health is an independent agency recognized by the US Department of Education which aims to "to enhance health in human populations through organized community effort," by focusing on the improvement of health through the assurance of professional personnel who are able to identify, prevent and solve community health problems.
