The ETSU College of Public Health offers three Doctoral Degree programs: The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Environmental Health, and the Doctor of Public Health in two concentrations, Community Health and Epidemiology.

Admission to both programs is highly competitive.  Please view the doctoral student biographies, which will give you some perspective on the backgrounds and experiences that our current students and past graduates have had, that helped shape their educational direction.  These can be accessed from the link on the side menu or by clicking the alumni quote banner at the bottom of the page.

Doctoral Degrees

The Doctor of Public Health (Dr.P.H.) program offers an advanced professional degree designed for those who wish to pursue or further their career in public health practice. It prepares practitioners with competence in administration, advocacy, problem solving, research, and communication. Graduates are qualified to serve in a variety of leadership capacities at state, national, and international levels, enhancing the public’s health in both rural and urban settings.

The Epidemic Intellingence Service is an applied epidemiology training program that emphasizes learning while doing. As an EIS office, I'm expected to lead public health investigations and demonstrate sound epidemiologic judgment. The practical training I received at ETSU prepared me for these new responsibilities.
