Doctoral Student Carter Florence to Present Psychiatry Grand Rounds

L. Carter Florence MPH, a Doctor of Public Health student in the Department of Community and Behavioral Health, will be presenting Grand Rounds for the Department of Psychiatry at the James H. Quillen College of Medicine.  The Grand Rounds, titled “Indoor Tanning Behaviors, Risks & Dependence” will be held Friday, February 27th from 11am to noon. During the presentation, Ms. Florence will explain the relationship between skin cancer and indoor tanning and review the current understanding of tanning dependence.  She will also review techniques for counseling indoor tanners to reduce or stop tanning.

In addition to the live presentation at the Votaw Auditorium at 325 N. State of Franklin, the presentation will be available for on-line viewing and archived for later viewing.  Ms. Florence works in the Skin Cancer Prevention Lab, under the direction of Dr. Joel Hillhouse. She received her Master of Public Health degree from the ETSU College of Public Health and her Bachelor degree in Chemistry from Centre College.
