Dr. Jim Florence, associate professor, has been
appointed to the role of M.P.H. Coordinator in the
department of Public Health. Dr. Florence has
served as faculty member in the department since
1995. He is nationally recognized for his research
and development and implementation of community
projects with international minority populations,
rural residents, and the elderly. He was selected
for a Public Health Education Leadership Institute
Fellowship in 2003-04 and was honored with the
College of Public and Allied Health’s
Foundation Service Award in 2002. He serves in
numerous leadership roles for local, state, and
national public health organizations, including the
National Commission for Health Education
Credentialing, Society for Public Health Education,
American Public Health Association, and the
Tennessee Public Health Association.
