College of Public Health

PUBH Course Rubric/Prefix to Change
Several years ago the BSPH, MPH, and DrPH programs were offered in one department: Public Health. The course prefix (also called a "rubric") for classes offered in Public Health was PUBH. Many of the courses you have signed up for in the College have this prefix. In 2008, the Department of Public Health split into three departments: Biostatistics and Epidemiology, Community and Behavioral Health, and Health Services Management and Policy.

The College of Public Health has changed several of its course prefixes in order to better reflect this reorganization. This announcement is part of a communication plan to disseminate these changes.

From now on, instead of registering for PUBH courses, you will register for courses with the following prefixes:

  • Epidemiology courses will have the prefix: EPID
  • Biostatistics courses will have the prefix: BSTA
  • Community and Behavioral Health courses will have the prefix: COBH
  • Health Services Management and Policy courses will have the prefix: HSMP

There will be NO changes to the course numbers. They will remain as is.

Environmental Health and Health Sciences majors will continue to use the same prefixes that they have always used.

Thanks for your attention to this matter. Please contact the Dean's office with any questions: 423-439-4243, or
