Dean Wykoff Testifies Before State Senate Committee
Dean Randy Wykoff was invited to testify before the Senate Health and Welfare Committee on "An Update on the Health Status of Tennessee."

This is the third year that the Committee has invited Dr. Wykoff to appear at the beginning of the legislative session, and provide an update on the health status of the State.

"The Committee is composed to extremely knowledgeable legislators" said Wykoff. "Most work full-time or part-time with healthcare related issues, and they are deeply committed to improving Tennessee's health status."

Using "America's Health Rankings" as the basis for the presentation, Wykoff discussed the importance of reducing health threatening behaviors in the State, as well as focusing on the social determinants of healthespecially education and economic development. "It is always a pleasure to speak to the Committee" Wykoff adds "Because their existing expertise allows them to focus their questions on the most important challenges facing the state."

The Committee is chaired by Senator Rusty Crowe, a lawyer, who has served in the Senate for 25 years, representing District 3Washington, Unicoi and Carter Counties. He has frequently been recognized as the legislator of the year by various organizations and agencies.
