| The ETSU Department of Audiology and Speech-Language
Pathology is located in the rural Southern Appalachian region
of the US, which provides unique opportunities for students to
work with a large number of children and families who live in
poverty. The ETSU Speech and Hearing Clinic houses specialty
clinics in cleft palate and phonology, which have both
conducted NIH funded clinical intervention studies, and an
autism clinic that currently serves a large number of children
with ASD.

University of Northern Iowa (UNI):

| The UNI Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders
offers both undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
Students have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of
populations, including children from Bosnia and Mexico. The
department operates a large study abroad program. During the
summer for the last five years, approximately 20 students
annually study communication disorders on international service
oriented study abroad trips. Recent study abroad experiences
have focused on Chile, Peru, New Zealand, and Nicaragua.
