Polysomnography Admissions Requirements

Students requesting admission into the Polysomnography Program will be reviewed by the program admissions committee.  Selected will be based on the following criteria:

1. Preference will be given to applicants with prior health care experience.

2. Students must have completed a minimum of 30 hours of college credit.

3.Students must have a minimum of a 2.5 GPA or higher in college coursework.

4. Proof of a current American Heart Association CPR healthcare provider “C” card.

5. Documentation of eight hours of observation in a sleep center. Click here for form.

The Polysomnography Program is a technology enhanced program with internet based learning modules, and clinical rotations.  Students should have access to a computer and the internet, be able to open and send attachments, and have the ability to navigate online course materials.

Once accepted into the program, students will be required to submit a completed physical form indicating appropriate vaccinations. Prior to starting the program, students must provide proof of malpractice insurance and completion of a criminal background check.

Cost of the program is $5075.

Applicants for the Polysomnography program apply through the Office of Professional Development only (do not apply to ETSU as an undergraduate or graduate student).

**Registered Polysomnography Technologist Credential Eligibility

Upon successful completion of the program the graduate will be eligible to sit for the Registered Polysomnography Technologist (RPSGT) credential. This is the highest sleep credential achievable by a non-physician. The credential is offered through the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) and is considered the gold standard in sleep credentialing.
