Speech-Language Pathology Program
The Speech-Language Pathology program at East Tennessee State
University is an accredited 2-year program focusing on the
diagnosis, treatment, and research of communicative disorders in
children and adults. The program’s curriculum provides
intense education on the disorders and conditions that arise in the
field. The goal of receiving a Masters of Science at this is
institution is to prepare students to enter the work force as
competent, well-rounded Speech-Language Pathologists providing the
best care to all patients. The program is accredited by the Council
on Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the American
Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
ETSU has a wide variety of clinic placements in both child and
adult settings. Each student is provided with multiple
opportunities on and off campus in school, clinic, nursing home,
and hospital sites. Students attending ETSU will be prepared
to work with a spectrum of disorders in children including autism,
cleft palate, auditory awareness, phonological disorders and
specific language impairment as well as high risk infant
care. If you are more interested in the adult settings, you
will gain the knowledge necessary to provide therapy for
individuals with tracheotomies, voice disorders, motor speech
disorders, aphasia, and dysphagia, including performing modified
barium swallow imaging studies at our local VA hospital.
