Best Practices in Developmental Mathematics

Members of the MathSPIN (and some members of AMATYC as well) have put together two volumes of articles on teaching developmental mathematics.

We are pleased to announce that both volumes of Best Practices in Developmental Mathematics are now available for free from this website as a PDF file. You will need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader (or Adobe Reader) to view this publication. You can download the newest version of Reader from Adobe at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html. Follow the directions from there.

Terms of use: Material from Best Practices in Developmental Mathematics may be reproduced without permission for noncommercial, educational use provided proper credit is given to the source.

Best Practices in Developmental Mathematics
, volume 1 (2002) (PDF File, 236 KB)

Best Practices in Developmental Mathematics, volume 2 (2003) (PDF file, 424 KB)

If you are interested in a hard copy of Best Practices 2, please e-mail Diane Martling, Math SPIN co-chair, at dmartlin@harpercollege.edu. There should be some copies available at cost (approximately $5 plus postage of about $2).

Note: There are a few minor glitches remaining in the PDF file of Best Practices 2. There are a few incorrect line and page breaks due to the way the original files were put together. These will be corrected as time permits.

Coming some day: an enhanced electronic edition of Best Practices 2 with hot links (click on a URL and it will take you to the page in the browser, or click on a title in the table of contents, and it will jump to the right page) -- once your humble webmaster gets his programs working correctly!

An exact match to an APA format citation is difficult. However, here is a suggested citation in APA format. Remember that APA format uses hanging indents, but that is very difficult to do in HTML.
