Goals for this year:
- Publish three
newsletters.
- Sponsor two sessions
at NADE 2004 in St. Louis.
- Solicit manuscripts
and funding for Best Practices in Developmental Mathematics,
2nd edition.
Publish it, time permitting.
- Continue to add to
the SPIN web site.
- Encourage use of SPIN
e-mail discussion group.
Accomplishments to
date:
- April newsletter was
e-mailed to every member we had an address for.
- Solicitations for
fall newsletter will be made the first week of September, with the
newsletter
published before Thanksgiving.
- Tom Armington has
sent the final version of Best Practices 2nd edition
to Prentice Hall for
publishing. It is awaiting action from the NADE board before
publishing. SPIN members and non-members contributed many manuscripts.
- E-mail discussion
group has been mostly silent over the summer. Members have helped one
doctoral student in locating information about state developmental math
policies.
Recommendations for
future action:
- We
request the Board's expedited permission on Best Practices,
which is actually not an official
NADE publication, but the legal department of Prentice-Hall feels is
necessary.
