8.0 Violation and Fines

(Fines subject to TBR approval)

A “registration hold” will be entered for any student not clearing their citation within 14 days after the citation is issued. In addition, a registration hold will be entered for all outstanding citations before appointment cards for the pre-registration period are printed.

8.1 Ten Dollar ($10) Fines

A fine of $10 will be imposed for the following violations.

A. Permit not displayed properly
B. Permit not legible
C. Littering from a vehicle
D. All illegal parking except parking violations noted.

8.2 Twenty Dollar ($20) Fines

A fine of $20 will be imposed for the following violations.

A. Failure to stop at a stop sign or yield right-of-way
B. Driving wrong way on one-way street
C. Failure to yield to pedestrian
D. Making U-turn
E. Parking in designated reserved spaces
F. Parking in service vehicle reserved spaces
G. Failure to purchase or display campus parking permit.
H. Designated car pool area or lot.

8.3 Thirty-five Dollar ($35) Fine

A fine of $35 will be imposed for the following violation.

A. Violation of the vehicle registration policy. First offense – pay fine of $35.
B. Violation of posted speed limit - $35 fine. For each mile over posted speed limit a $4.00 charge for each mile per hour over posted speed limit. The mph must be verified by radar.

8.4 Fifty Dollar ($50) Fine

A fine of $50 will be imposed for the following violations.

A. Parking in a fire lane (zone)
B. Blocking a fire hydrant
C. Reckless driving. If a person drives a motor vehicle with such a lack of ordinary care as to indicate his conscious indifference to the health and safety of himself or others (TCA 55-10-205).
D. Chronic violator violation

8.5 Seventy-Five Dollar ($75) Fines

A fine of $75 will be imposed for the following violations.

A. Parking in a fire lane (zone), second offense
B. Blocking a fire hydrant, second offense

8.6 One Hundred Dollar ($100) Fines

A fine of $100 will be imposed for the following violations.

A. Blocking a disabled ramp
B. Parking in a disabled parking space
C. Unauthorized use of disabled placard

8.7 Violation of Vehicle Registration Policy (Registrant responsibility: See Item 1.3)

A. First offense: Pay fine of $35.
B. Second offense: Pay fine of $70.

Faculty and staff must have all parking fines cleared in order to obtain a new parking permit.
