EVALUATION

Evaluation of progress by instructor and student self-evaluation.  Typing tutors consist of a series of numbered lessons that must be completed.  Repeating lessons is encouraged and required.  Progression rates vary widely among participants.  Encourage proper form and technique and stress accuracy over speed, esp. in the beginning stages of typing.  Participant must complete and review all exercises before spending time on the timed writings.  After student begins timed tests, look for steady improvements in both speed and accuracy.

COMPLETION

Program completed when participant has a demonstrated knowledge of all keys on the computer keyboard.  Participant feels comfortable with “getting in and out of” various programs.  Demonstrates an ability to use the mouse as an input device.  Several timed writings of various lengths, producing an average of 15 wpm with 80% accuracy or better, indicates keyboard competency.
