Dr. Deborah Harley

Engagement, Learning and Leadership
Dr. Deborah Harley came to Johnson City in 1984 and has made this her home. She is originally from Ohio, attended the University of South Florida in Tampa for her bachelor’s degree in math and master’s in counseling. Her doctorate is in Educational Leadership from ETSU. She has worked in higher education for over 25 years, 4 years in the University of Maryland system and over 20 years here at ETSU. Leadership, Service and Civic Engagement are personal passions and she has been teaching seminars and courses in these areas for many years. At ETSU she leads the campus initiative in leadership and engagement, advocates for service-learning, coordinates the minor in Leadership Studies, teaches the capstone course, and coaches the students in Leadership House. She is a certified mentor facilitator for Franklin-Covey, and the Pew Foundation.
