OVERVIEW The main objective of this course is to
provide the employee with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to pass each of
the following GED tests: Literature & the Arts, Science, and Social Studies. Because of their relatively similar nature, preparing for
these three GED tests is combined into one course.
Following a placement test, the employee will begin course work at the
appropriate level. As dictated by the content of the actual GED test(s), the
lessons and exercises in this course include: Literature & the Arts:
Popular literature, classical literature, and literature commentary Science: Life sciences and
physical sciences Social Studies: History,
economics, political science, geography, behavioral sciences EVALUATION The GED Literature & the Arts, Science,
and Social Studies course is a systematic course with lessons and exercises
presented in a sequential and logical order.
Participant’s skills at the end of
each chapter will be measured with a post-test.
The post-test of each chapter must be passed in order to continue with
the course. Instructor observation will be used to determine the rate of
progression and the amount of practice and extra course work needed by the
participant. COMPLETION Upon completion of the lessons, exercises,
and post-tests of all the chapters, the participant will take a GED practice
test for each subject. The
participant must pass the practice test to complete the course.
The participant will then be prepared for the actual GED Literature &
the Arts, Science, and Social Studies portions of the GED Test battery. If the participant takes and passes the actual GED Literature
& the Arts, Science, and Social Studies tests, he/she will be considered in
completion of the requirements for that particular portion of this course. |
