The phone is ringing as Jake lets himself into his apartment after work. "Who's calling me at 2:00 a.m.?" he asks as he crosses the room to answer. "Yeah?" It's Zeke, calling to set up a meeting for the next day. "Why can't you tell me what this is about over the phone?"

"Okay. I'll meet you at Clary's for breakfast. Ten o'clock okay?"

On the way to Clary's, Jake stops at the Fast Mart to pick up some cigarettes. He doesn't linger, even though he's a little early for his meeting, because the guy behind the counter looks a little maniacal, like he could just snap at any second.

At the restaurant, he orders coffee and waits. Just as Jake is about to give up and head to class, Zeke finally walks in. He asks Jake if he can get some Valium for this chick he knows. Jake tells him he can and they arrange a meeting for that afternoon. She's supposed to meet him at the Old Guard House by the lighthouse on Tybee at 2:30. Jake figures he should be finished with his other business by then, but he wonders why she's insisting on meeting outside of town? Most of the people he sells to couldn't care less who sees them buy. What's so special about this chick?
