While he waits, Jake checks out the people, mostly tourists, over by the
lighthouse. "Cute!" he says to himself as
a muscular but gorgeous chick with raven black hair walks past with her
dog. "Too bad I have business to do or I'd follow her to the beach."
It's 2:35 and Chelsea hasn't shown up yet. Jake is getting impatient, but decides to give her five more minutes before he heads back into town. A few minutes later, an all too familiar girl pulls up in a new sports car.
"It can't be the same chick. No way," he thinks to himself. But it is. Chelsea is the girl from the College of Art and Design that he's been fantasizing about. "Chelsea?" he says aloud. The girl spins around and catches Jake checking her out. She seems nervous so Jake introduces himself. Chelsea stammers around a bit, obviously embarrassed and maybe a little angry, so Jake softens his tone and says, "You're not used to this, are you?" He tries to put her at ease and get this over with for her as soon as possible, even though he wouldn't mind hanging out here with her all day.
They set up a meeting to exchange drugs for money later that night. Chelsea suggests Cagney's on West Bay Street around 7:30. Jake agrees and as Chelsea starts to get into her car to leave, he calls out, "Hey! Don't be late this time," and walks away.
This is too good to be true. A meeting with the girl he's been wanting to ask out. True, it is only business. But maybe he can convince her to do something with him later. As Jake cruises back into town, he knows that he won't be able to think of anything else for the rest of the day.
