Business Meetings

Before I start the job, though, i've gotta meeting to go to. One of Calhoun's businesses is my destination. It's a seedy little dive on the outskirts of Savannah. I know he'll be there, overseeing his operations. I need to tell him i'm taking this contract. If I don't, and things go bad, i'll need him to bail me out. I don't like to rely on him, but he's my primary employer and he needs to know what's going on.

I roll up to the club and step out of my Mercedes.
The scummy types here know I work for Calhoun, so I i'm not worried that they might mess with my car. I'm assailed by smoke and loud music as soon as I step into the club. Directly to the left there's a guy in a tie-dyed t-shirt buying drugs. Moving past him and the piss-drunk, mesmerized patrons leering at the girl on stage, I reach the backroom door. After the appropriate knock, the door swings open and i'm admitted to Calhoun's private area.

The crime boss is sitting at a card table, dealing a hand to some of his associates. He looks up as I enter. "Sebastian, my boy, how are you?"

"Good, sir, and you?" I reply.

He waves his hand. "I'm fine...what can I do for you?"

"Well, I just wanted to let you know i've contracted for a hit."

He glances up briefly. "Oh? Do tell."

"Well, sir, an aquaintance of mine needs someone removed...it's quite petty, a love triangle sort of thing, but he's paying well."

Calhoun leans back in his seat. "I see...who is he?"

"A guy by the name of Big A...he's small time, a chump. Nobody you'd even wanna associate with," I reply nonchalantly.

Calhoun nods. "I'm not interested in how much he's paying. I trust that you'll do your usual excellent work, keep the law enforcement involvement to a minimum, and that's that."

"Yes sir, of course."

He laughs, rather like the rumbling of a freight train riding by. "Good, good, now get outta here...you're holding up my game."

I nod and back out the door. The night's business is finished. Calhoun knows about my next job, and everything's good. If some unforeseen event happens, like my incarceration by police, then he'll know what to do. Now i'm gonna go home and get some sleep. Tommorow evening's gonna be busy.
