There's A First Time For Everything

2 years later...

"Jennifer, phone's for you," Brock's voice echoed into the kitchen where Jennifer and Tempest were making popcorn before all three of them sat down to watch Runaway Bride. A movie pick in which having 2 to 1 girl to boy odds was obviously beneficial. "I'm coming," Jennifer yelled back into the living room of the apartment she had occupied for two years now. "Hello," Jennifer spoke into the receiver. "Hey Jennifer, this is Elizabeth," the caller replied. Elizabeth Northwick was Fred Flat's business partner and tended to give Jennifer the creeps, besides she had never called Jennifer at home. As Jennifer moved out of Brock's earshot, she asked Elizabeth "So, what can I do for you?" "Well, I wanted to run a few job opportunities by you, to see if you're interested," Elizabeth drawled. Elizabeth proceeded to offer Jennifer a role in her upcoming porn film, which Jennifer promptly refused. But the other job offer held some interest: a short and sweet dance at a bachelor party that weekend. The bachelor party would give her roughly $800, putting her right over the amount she had determined to make before quitting this profession. After a few moments of thought, Jennifer told Elizabeth she'd take it and jotted down the directions to the party. "When you get there just ask for Jake, he's throwing the party," Elizabeth said.

After, Brock and Tempest left that night, Jennifer snuggled into bed but couldn't sleep. She started thinking about when she first arrived at college and how different everything was now. She had been so determined not to get involved with Brock, but the combination of his persistence and charm won her over. They were closer now than they had ever been, but Jennifer couldn't bring herself to tell him about her job as a dancer. She was convinced that he would hate her for it and never speak to her again. Brock just assumed that Jennifer's Mom helped her out with finances. Plus, Jennifer didn't live like she made the kind of money she did. For the past two years, she paid all of her expenses, including tuition, rent, food, and of course, car costs. Besides that, she had put the rest of the money in savings for graduate school. Jennifer had finally taken control of her life and future, and she had done it all on her own without any man, she thought to herself proudly. But then why did she have this bad feeling inside her? The feeling she felt whenever she had to lie to Brock about where she was going or why she couldn't go on a date with him that night. The feeling she felt before she went to bed every night. Well, that was almost over, Jennifer decided. Friday night's bachelor party, would meet the amount she had decided to make before quitting. Then, I'll get a normal job at Bookworks or O'Charley's like other girls my age, Jennifer thought before she drifted off to sleep. And nobody will ever have to know what I did to get here, especially Brock.....
