First day on the job. It's really not very hard work. Jess has ordered a bunch of tables and chairs and while we wait for them to arrive, sometime soon, we have been getting to know each other. She is really a very nice person. It seems that we have a lot in common. She is a dreamer of sorts, also. Jess dreams of fixing up her bar and just kicking back and having a mellow life, here in Savannah. I also dream of living a peaceful life, unfortunately, I don't think it is here, in this city.

Besides Jess, I have met some other interesting people. There's Tempest, a struggling novelist who shares my dream of someday writing a best-seller. She is very nice, and we have had a few interesting conversations about religion and politics. She shares my beliefs in conservation and environmental protection.

And then there's Big A. He is a giant of a man, who seems to have deserted his love of writing. He writes cookbooks, of all things. He loves to party, but I don't think he is really happy with life. He seems very excited about Jess's bar. I have a feeling that he will be a regular. If he doesn't drink himself to death first.

Back to Jess. She is a very independent person and has made it very clear that she can do anything that a man can do. But I sense that she is lonely and sort of scared to let her emotions show. I wonder how she feels about me? I should get back to work because our Grand Opening will be here in no time.
