The Bookstore![]() | ||
Raine went in and set up for the book signing, she didn't think that there would be a lot of people coming, but she felt it was worth it for the publicity. She expected to see quite a few of those that had attended her lectures. So the hours flew by and Raine felt as if she was quite ready for a break. She knew that she was attuned to those around her, but too much was too much.
![]() | Out of the corner of her eye she saw Lucy, a young employee with arms overloaded with books go around a bookshelf. Raine thought to herself, 'Disaster!', when the sound of books thudded to the floor. She heard a masculine toned voice murmur something and go on. Intrigued she overtly watched for the man behind the voice emerge from behind the shelving. A tall blond gentleman rounded the corner, as he turned fully toward her she caught sight of a pair of depthless blue eyes. 'Bedroom Eyes.'
Raine shook herself, she hadn't been interesting to the opposite sex in a very long time. She forced her thoughts back on the task at hand, but couldn't stop a funny looking grin of amusement at her wondering ideas. Moments later she looked up to see who was watching her to catch the line of vision of the man she had been eyeing before. He was tense, his knuckles white as he stood in line holding her book. 'Surely the Goddess was smiling on her!' She covertly observed him, he seemed to be dealing with some heavy weight on his shoulders. She felt him step up to the table and instead of bending over her, he bent his tall frame into a squat in front of her. He seemed at first to be very disdainful of her, but he asked a question about a rare flower called the Himalayan Butterfly. She grinned and showed him the place in her book on it and offered her phone number for advice on repairing his damaged plant.
![]() | The more he spoke with her, Raine felt him gradually open up to her. She was pleasantly surprised when he invited her for coffee. She readily agreed and made arrangements to take a break; the crowd was thinning away. She smiled to herself, his name was Richard, Rick.
