Somewhere down the street Sedrick heard a car engine rev-up and tires squeal. A few seconds later he saw a black sedan racing down the street with the barrels of automatic weapons peering out the window. The sound of gunfire was deafening as something stung Sedrick's face before he could turn to run for his mother and father. Sedrick screamed and clutched the left side of his face. The pain was overwhelming. He could barely see his parents through the tears that filled his eyes and ran down his face from the pain that throbbed in his head.
Confusion was with Sedrick as he pulled his hand away from his face. Blood streamed down his arm. Terror filled his soul. The boy turned to the only people he knew would help him, his family. Sedrick ran to where his father was laying on the ground. "Dad?! Get up dad, wake up!
Mama, something is wrong with dad. Mama?! Mama!!!"
Sedrick set up in bed, sweat rolling down his face and hair matted to his head. "Just a nightmare," Sedrick said to himself as he reached up and ran his fingers along the scar which was his souvenir from that tragic day.
"I'll have my revenge." he said softly, more to the powers that be, than to himself. "Do you hear me? I'll have my revenge." more loudly than before.
Sedrick found it hard to go back to sleep so he got up and went to work grading tests from that day. The first test he picked up was Katie Muligan's. As he began to grade it Sedrick realized that his brightest student was not doing very well this time. When he finished he put her grade in his grade book. Sedrick shook his head as he put down a sixty-nine. He graded a few more before going back to bed.
