Well the day was not a total waste. Found the book signing, as well as accidentally running into one of the most fantastic boutiques I have ever seen. A whole row of them actually. Right next to Max Mara is, yes, Prada!!! I may survive this city after all. Provided I can find somewhere to where my new findings. And as long as I am not surrounded by those overweight bald types , or any of the many geeks with pocket protectors. Those types were all over the bookstore this morning, which only made the need to shop much greater. Thank goodness I found somewhere decent! The sales girl recommended this blues club. Maybe I will check that out tonight. Need to meet some of the local color and find out whether or not I made the right decision coming here. Need to meet the upper crust, if Seattle has one.
So this is the Pacific Jazz & Blues. Nice. Could hear the whisky coated voice as I walked toward the place, the soft slow rhythm and hum washing out into the seductive night. I love jazz! Already I like this place and I am not even in the door... Oh the decor! Finally I have found a cultured spot! The dusky haze covering the deep burgundy wood, candles flickering lightly from every direction, a blue cloud of smoke descending over the crowd! Yes! Now this feels like home. Time for, let me indulge, a nice manhattan. Pray god this hunk behind the bar can fix it up nice. Ahhhhh yes... that is good. Will definitely be back here... if not for the music, then at least for this big boy! Yummy.
Looks like a good crowd. And I actually see some people with taste. Its like a sea of Versace, Gucci, Prada in here. Maybe I should have worn something a bit more exotic. Hate to just fit in...but at least there is some style. Now lets see...who looks interesting...must be some single men here somewhere... hmmmmmm....may have to let the night creep on a bit before finding something worth sinking my teeth into. Think I will concentrate on the bad boy behind me. It is time for another drink...oh and listen... the band is playing "Buck". That is one of my favorite Billie Holiday tunes...Yeah, I do like this place.
Gin and tonic this time. Extra lime. Think the boy likes me some...oh great what is that sitting down next to me? Geez, its some60's fruit-loop leftover. If he starts preaching free love, this drink is gonna be in his lap. Blah, blah, blah...on and on and on he goes. I bet he thinks he sounds fairly profound. Oh and it seems as though he has a Wiccan friend whom supplies him with herb. How nice. Loser. Oh! But look who just walked in...maybe this night won't be a total waste after all. What a beautiful blue dress... I am surprised. I didn't expect so much beauty to be lurking just beneath those long, loose clothes, those wispy skirts . She is lanky. Might be a dancer. Might be a prospect here after all, providing she can say something other than "What would you like to drink".
Well, a martini in hand she looks quite elegant after all. Would have figured her for a rum drinker...that or wine. Those cute little girls always like their wine. They think it makes them look so posh. Nice to see something I did not expect. She really is lovely, and those eyes
