Guidelines for students submitting text for
an on-line magazine

Students -- Follow these guidelines, if your English instructor has asked you to submit an essay for an on-line magazine for your class.  

 

COMPUTER FORMATTING  --

Save your text on a 3.5" floppy disk, using one of the following,
windows-compatible file formats:

- html
- Microsoft Word
- Wordperfect
- IBM text file (also known as "text-only," "DOS text," or "ASCII
file")

CAREFULLY LABEL the disk itself, with your name, course number,
date, and file name.

WHAT TO INCLUDE --

Page heading:
At the top of  your first page, include a title, author's name, course
number and term, date, instructor's name.

Contributor's Note:
After your page heading, write a contributor's note that tells about
you, the author, in a sentence or two.

Here is a sample contributor's note (from 1110, Fall '97,
"Homemade Apple Pie"):

Matt Nunley is currently a freshman at East Tennessee State University. He hopes to graduate in four years with a major in Computer Science and a minor in Mathematics. Matt is also a member of the ETSU baseball team, for which he is a catcher.

PAGE FORMATTING --

Keep it simple.  Avoid fancy page formatting, such as tables or
reverse indentation.
