JOHNSON CITY—Three students scheduled to graduate this semester from East Tennessee State University's department of art and design will display selections of their work as part of their degree requirements. All shows will be held at Slocumb Galleries in Ball Hall. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m.
Susan Woody of Johnson City is a candidate for the B.F.A. degree in sculpture. Her show, entitled “Gestures in Steel,” is an exhibit of steel sculptural pieces and charcoal. Woody says her artwork is influenced by Kathe Kollwitz, Jim Dine, Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham and the pre-school children she has worked with at ETSU's Little Buccaneers. Her opening reception will be held Monday, Nov. 26, from 5-7 p.m.
Wendy Woods of Johnson City is a candidate for the B.F.A. degree in photography. Her show, “Landscape/Manscape,” is the result of years of observing the changing landscape of her hometown. She hopes that the exhibit “will display beauty of both the landscape and what becomes of it at the hand of man.”
Betty Crawford of Surgoinsville is a candidate for the B.F.A. degree in illustration. Her untitled show includes many of her drawings and paintings.
Opening receptions for both artists will be held Monday, Dec. 3, at 5 p.m.
