JOHNSON CITY — John Harvey Byerley, director of the East Tennessee State University Mail Center, was recently elected to the College and University Mail Service Association (CUMSA) board of directors at its conference in Nashville.

“Harvey was chosen from his peers for his excellent leadership skills and his contributions to making CUMSA one of the premiere associations in the nation,” said Thom Clark, president of the association.

CUMSA boasts the highest number of professionally certified managers in the nation with more than 50 percent of all certified mail center managers. The organization's goal is “to promote, develop and unite educational postal employees.”

The board of directors meets several times each year to plan for upcoming conferences and evaluate the association as it assists colleges and universities nationwide to become the best and most efficient mail center operations possible.
