Faculty recital to feature tenor Oliver Lo

JOHNSON CITY – Tenor Dr. Oliver Lo will take his audience "Around the World" during an upcoming solo recital of works from America, England, France, Russia and Italy on Saturday, Jan. 12, at 8 p.m. in East Tennessee State University's Mathes Hall.

Lo is an assistant professor of voice and director of the Opera Workshop in the ETSU department of music. He was a member of voice faculty at the State University of New York at Fredonia for three years before he came to Tennessee. He has appeared as a soloist in concerts and operas throughout upstate New York and Hong Kong. As a young performer, he has already sung more than 35 different solo roles in operas and oratorios.

Apart from his singing activities, he is also an opera stage director and producer. He is currently working on founding a regional opera company in the Tri-Cities area. Moreover, Lo was also an active choral conductor for many different children and youth choirs in Hong Kong.

Lo was one of 12 national finalists for the 1999 Rehfuss Singing Actor Awards at Orlando Opera. Following a national search, he was also selected as one of 12 voice teachers for the 2001 National Association of Teachers of Singing Intern Program. Lo received his master's and doctoral degrees in vocal performance from the Eastman School of Music, where he was also teaching assistant and full scholarship recipient.

During this free public recital, Lo will be accompanied by pianist Dr. Lynn Rice-See, ETSU professor of music.
