New workshop series is outgrowth of popular financial seminars

JOHNSON CITY – A new Financial Workshop Series on retirement planning and tax-advantaged investing will be offered this spring by East Tennessee State University's office of professional development and Tennessee Small Business Development Centers.

Many participants in two of the most popular seminars offered frequently by the office of professional development, "ABCs of Investing" and "Advanced Equities," requested more in-depth coverage of specific topics, and the result is a seven-part series that builds on the information provided in the earlier seminars. Topics and dates of the workshops are:

Each workshop will take place from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Carl J. Gerber Lecture Hall, Carnegie Library (Bldg. 17), James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center campus (Mountain Home). The instructors are Mike Sharples and Andy Mumpower of Edward Jones Investments.

Tuition for the two-part "Tax Relief" workshop is $22, and the spouse of a registered participant may register and attend at no additional charge. For all other workshops, tuition is $15 for each; one person may register for any three of these workshops for $39, and a registered spouse may attend at no charge. Enrollment is limited.
