Grants, unlike loans, do not have to be repaid. Generally, grants are awarded only to undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor's degree. You may be eligible for grants if you are full-time, part-time, or less than part-time, even if you do not attend school for a full academic year. A student may not receive federal or state funds for more than one school at a time.
The federal government
publishes
Funding Education Beyond High School, which
discusses in length many areas of financial aid. The student must complete
the Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to
apply for grants. Students are encouraged to list the ETSU Title IV School Code: 003487 on the FAFSA. There are various
grant programs, each of which is need-based. Need is determined by the difference between the cost of attendance
at ETSU and the expected family contribution (EFC). The EFC is determined by
the United States Department of Education's standard formula used by the Federal Student Aid Programs to evaluate the information an applicant reports on the FAFSA.
