Your Money Matters

College Savings

Whether you're just beginning your college career or approaching its conclusion, it's important to develop good money management skills.  The financial habits you develop now can have a powerful impact on your future.  The ETSU Office of Financial Aid has developed the Your Money Matters web pages to provide useful information to help you build your financial knowledge and develop practical skills for managing your money.

What do I need to know if I am thinking about taking or if I've already taken Direct Loans to help pay for my educational expenses?

Be sure you can afford to take Direct Loans:

  • Consider this general information "Will You Be Able to Repay Your Loans?"
  • Visit our Financial Literacy Links page for more resources on money management.
  • With this information in mind, you can develop a spending plan.  A spending plan will help you:
          *Create a budget
*Live a lifestyle you can afford
*Decide if you need student loans to attend school
          *Borrow a minimal amount

Be ready to repay your loan.  Having this knowledge before you even take a loan will help you borrow the amount that makes you comfortable.
