Surveying and Mapping Students

Currently we have about sixty undergraduate students majoring in Surveying and Mapping Science and ten graduate students in our M.S. program in Engineering Technology with concentration in Geosciences.

The B.S. program is designed to provide students with the basic knowledge and skills to become licensed professional surveyors. Students entering the B.S. program can choose from three sequences that will prepare them for an exciting career in Surveying/Cadastral, GIS/Photogrammetry or Surveying Business.

The M.S. program is designed to provide students with strong foundation in research, while allowing students to focus in any of the three contained disciplines:  Geomatics, Geology, or Geography. A Plan of Study will be established with the assistance of the adviser.

Our students through the ETSU Chapter of the ACSM (ETSU Survey Club) are very involved in the professional activities with the following organizations:

American Congress on Surveying and Mapping (ACSM),

Tennessee Association of Professional Surveyors (TAPS),

Virginia Association of Surveyors (VAS),

North Carolina Society of Surveyors (NCSS),

South Carolina Society of Professional Land Surveyors (SCSPLS), and

Kentucky Association of Professional Surveyors (KAPS).
