Admission Requirements
General Admission Requirements for Master's Degree and
Certificate Programs in the School of Graduate Studies
The following standards and materials are required of all masters and certificate
applicants regardless of program. Please see the
graduate catalog for additional program admission requirements.
- A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution. Degrees from non-accredited
institutions will be evaluated on an individual basis.
- A completed application form.
- One official transcript from every college or university where the applicant has
taken courses, except for previous course work at ETSU. Applications will not be
considered without all transcripts.
- A personal essay of 150-300 words, detailing your interests in a graduate program
at ETSU.
- A non-refundable application fee of $35.00($45.00 for international students).
- An undergraduate GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale *(some programs require a higher GPA).
General Admission Requirements for Educational Specialist
Degree Programs in the School of Graduate Studies
The following standards are required of all Educational specialist applicants regardless
of program or concentration. Please see the
graduate catalog for additional program admission requirements.
- A bachelor's degree and master's degree from regionally accredited institutions.
- A completed application form.
- One official transcript from any college or the university where the applicant has
taken courses, except for previous course work at ETSU. Applications will not be
considered without all transcripts.
- A personal essay of 150-300 words, detailing your interests in a graduate program
at ETSU.
- A non-refundable application fee of $35.00($45.00 for international students).
- A copy of the applicant's teaching certificate.
- Four (4) letters of recommendation.
General Admission Requirements for Doctoral Degree Programs
in the School of Graduate Studies
The following standards are required of all Doctoral degree applicants regardless
of program or concentration. Please see the
graduate catalog for additional program admission requirements.
- A bachelor's degree or master's degree from regionally accredited institutions.
- A completed application form.
- One official transcript from any each undergraduate or graduate institution attended,
except for previous coursework taken at ETSU. Applications will not be considered
without all transcripts.
- A personal essay of 150-300 words, detailing your interests in a graduate program
at ETSU.
- A non-refundable application fee of $35.00($45.00 for international students).
- Official scores on the general portion of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).
- Three (3) letters of recommendation.
