Mathematics, Biochemistry, Chemistry, and Public Health programs, especially, have
been enriched by the participation of international students.
The Office of International Programs holds International Orientation programs every
semester to welcome international students to ETSU, and the OIP also helps process
immigration forms and provides information and support to students. In addition,
the International Student Organization at ETSU holds social events, such as picnics,
for its members (International Frequently Asked Questions). International students
have also participated actively in ETSU’s Graduate and Professional Student Association,
serving as officers and key contributors.
In recent years, ETSU has developed a rewarding relationship with the University
of Buea in Cameroon. Dr. Tom Huang of Chemistry and Dr. Janice Huang of Mathematical
Sciences visited Cameroon and taught at the University of Buea on a Fulbright fellowship
in the 2001-2002 academic year. The Huangs have posted a web diary of their year
in Cameroon. As a result of the Huangs’ teaching in Cameroon, currently nine students
from the University of Buea attend graduate programs at ETSU.
