Associate Dean of the Arts
Anita DeAngelis has been a faculty member at ETSU since 1994, and she is Associate Dean for the Arts in the College of Arts and Sciences. Her previous teaching positions include Concordia College, Moorhead, Minnesota and East Texas State University, Commerce, Texas (now Texas A&M-Commerce). She received her MFA from Arizona State University (printmaking), her BFA from the University of Texas at Austin (studio art), and she attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Skowhegan, Maine. She teaches Drawing, Figure Drawing, Color Theory, 2-D Design, and Book Arts, and she served as the department’s Studio Foundations Coordinator for ten years. Anita’s art work includes drawing, hand-made books, printmaking, and letterpress printing. Her recent work includes drawings of trees, portraits, and her greyhounds, and the images serve as metaphors for both personal experiences and human conditions. Her work explores marking systems, depictions of volume and light, and layering color and textures to achieve a rich surface quality. She is an associate member of the Pastel Society of America.
