Students in the MA in New Media Studio are encouraged to find their own blend of processes through their research. Just like you, our students come from diverse backgrounds each with a unique creative vision. Here are a few examples.
Sara studied Architecture in Spain, where she got a Master degree from the University of Alcala (Madrid). She wants to explore new digital techniques of architecture visualization and keep improving her artistic skills.
Jennifer received her BA in Art History from the University of Kentucky. She is currently focused on expanding her skills in 3D software, programming, and animation.
Tim Altonen graduated from ETSU’s Broadcasting Program in 2007. As a final project, he wrote and directed ETSU’s first High-Definition short film and screened the film in front of a sold-out crowd at a local theater, securing a donation for over $400 back to his department. Since then, Altonen has worked on several feature films in the area as Director of Photography, Script Supervisor, Assistant Director, and many other jobs on set. In Winter 2011, he brought together filmmakers and actors from Ohio, Virginia, Washington D.C., and many locals in Johnson City to produce another short film which he wrote and directed. Altonen continues to work on local film productions, and hopes to bring more awareness to film in the area.
Jesse hasn't missed a step as he continues on his studies at ETSU, having received a B.S. in Digital Media. Jesse's research involves gaming and human computer interaction.
