Rhinoceros! (Teleoceras)

Another shot showing the right half of the body (left half of photo). Although you can not see it because it had already been removed by this time, the left manus (hand) was actually on top of the right. Both limbs were essentially side by side.

 

Close up of the right manus (hand) with my hand for scale. Note that although there is some displacement, the bones are still somewhat articulated (unlike the left, which was more scattered). Also notice the distal end of the ulna (forearm bone) still "in place" with respect to the carpals (wrist bones).

Right third digit of the manus with the bones in place. Notice the compressed nature of the phalanges (finger bones). This compression is very characteristic of Teleoceras .
