Fossil Show and Tell

“Fossil Show and Tell” night at the East Tennessee State University and General Shale Brick Natural History Museum at Gray Fossil Site.

The East Tennessee State University and General Shale Brick Natural History Museum will host the first “Fossil Show and Tell” night on Thursday, October 4 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.   The community is invited to bring their fossil finds to be identified and photographed by ETSU’s expert team of paleontologists from the Don Sundquist Center of Excellence in Paleontology.  Fossils may be plant or animal and collected from the Gray Fossil Site or elsewhere.  Light refreshments will be served.

The Natural History Museum (NHM) is dedicated to understanding, preserving and interpreting biodiversity of the Southern Appalachians through time, using an interdisciplinary approach.

The museum is located on State Route 75 about two miles west of the I-26 Gray Exit 13 (old Exit 42).  The facility is open daily from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.  For more information, call the NHM, toll free, at 1-866-202-6223.
