Introduction to This Issue
Welcome to the first issue of J.E.S.T. !
This online eJournal was written, designed, and linked by students in Dr. D.E. Haley's "Computers, Writing, and Literature" class (ENGL3134) at East Tennessee State University, as their second project during the Fall 2000 term. Check out the "Meet Our Staff" page for more information about these outstanding individuals.
J.E.S.T. has been a successful class project -- so successful that Dr. Haley plans to "publish" at least one issue every year. The topics of the students essays will change each semester. This semester, in keeping with the course title and purpose, students wrote essays about authors or books. The J.E.S.T. project taught them how to prepare electronic texts; edit and link the texts to Internet sites; upload and link texts, photos, and artwork; and collaboratively design tables of contents for each department.
Enjoy this first issue -- and check back each semester for new issues of the Journal of Electronic Student Texts.
