International Student Pre-Arrival Guide

Welcome to the Office of International Programs and Services!

Please read through all 10 sections of this guide. Your close attention to this provided information will assist in your success and transition to a new country, culture, and school. Click the links below to progress through each section.

We also provide an interactive checklist with links to more information. Either save to your computer or print it out to mark off applicable items.  

In addition, an online meeting to discuss and ask questions about pre-arrival, arriving, and more will take place with the International Student Advisors at various times. To attend this meeting you must use the link sent to your ETSU email at a later date. However, the next meeting date and times are located on the right of this screen.

Please note that United States government regulations do not allow international students with an Initial I-20 or DS 2019 to enter the country more than 30 days in advance of the program start date noted on the I-20 or DS 2019. Please take this into consideration and plan your travel accordingly.

Give the Dispatcher your name, a general explanation of your problem, your phone number and tell him/her that you need to contact the International Programs and Services Director. The International Programs and Services Director or a designee will contact you as soon as possible.
