The J Exchange Visitor Program is managed by
the United States Department of State Bureau of Educational and
Cultural Exchange. East Tennessee State University is a
sponsor under such program and can issue DS-2019 for eligible
persons who may wish to participate in the program.
The overall purpose of the Exchange Program, as proposed by the Fulbright-Hayes Act of 1961 is: to "increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries by means of educational and cultural exchanges."
The prospective visitor must have an ETSU host faculty or department and such host or department must work with International Programs and Services regarding issuance of the DS-2019, visa and other pertinent documents.
Please contact International Programs and Services if you have any questions.
