Inaugural Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships

The Undergraduate Summer Research Fellowship Program, sponsored by The Honors College, is designed to assist outstanding undergraduate students in making major progress on a formal, organized research project over the summer in collaboration with a faculty mentor.

For Summer 2006, two fellowships were awarded.  One, the George C. Sells Summer Research Fellowship, was awarded to Lucinda Langston on the basis of her proposal, "Prehistoric Pottery Production and Culture Chronology in Upper East Tennessee".  The second fellowship was awarded to Ian Longacre for study of "The D2 Reception Mediation of Nicotine Sensitization in D2-primed Adolescent Rats".

Funds are provided for a scholarship to the student, as well as supplies and/or travel necessary for the project, up to a maximum of $2,500.
